Otterbourne II 62 all out

A RAIN-affected pitch hampered South Newton's progress with John Mitch-ell's brisk 13 the highlight of the opening exchanges.

Chris Penny arrived at the crease in the tenth over, after three wickets had fallen in six balls.

He briefly found a partner in Tim Moulding, but a further four wickets fell in just five overs.

The score was 71-8 after 28 overs before James Whiting joined forces with Penny.

The pair scored 12 not out and 45 respectively, to take the final score to a slightly more respectful 123-9.

Eastleigh seemed in no rush to reach this small target, but panicked after only hitting eight off 12 overs.

Left armer Des Jeffery, 12-3-28-4, benefited, and with Ian Huntley, 12-5-11-2, they brought the visitors to their knees at 40-6 after 24 overs.

Mike Whitear, who had already bludgeoned 19 not out, looked capable of saving Eastleigh.

However, Nick Moulding struck him on the hand with his first delivery and he was forced to retire hurt. Moulding cleaned up the tail with three for nine and Eastleigh were all out for 62.
