FORMER car park attendant Tim Merritt has got a new job.
Mr Merritt, of Hillworth Gardens, Devizes, was laid off from his job as the part-time car park attendant at One Stop in the Market Place, Devizes.
He was told his services were no longer required because the car park was not making enough money to cover his wages.
He was pictured in last week's Gazette dressed in a suit on one of his last days at his job.
He decided to don his Sunday best in the hope of impressing someone into giving him a job.
At the same time, he applied to Sainsbury's in Devizes and on Friday he received a job offer from the supermarket.
Mr Merritt, 50, who was previously a machine operator at Linpac in Devizes for 25 years, will start at Sainsbury's on Monday full-time, working for the customer services department.
He said: "The job offer has cheered me up no end. I have been out of full time work for too long and I can't wait to get started."
