TALENTED young artists have got the chance to work alongside a professional sculptor in a free summer school.
Peatmoor Primary School is hosting In At The Deep End, a six day exploration of large scale sculpture inspired by sea life.
The a week-long course from July 24 to 31 is open to children aged 10 to 14, in school years six to nine.
Each child has to be recommended by a teacher at their school for being talented in art.
Working alongside sculptor David O'Connor, the youngsters will learn unusual drawing techniques and use computer programmes such as Photoshop to develop their ideas.
It will culminate in the construction of a number of large suspended sculptures in mixed media such as wood, metal, cloth and paper.
These will then be animated using light and sound in a final interactive installation.
Places on the course are free, with funding coming from the Government's Standards Fund.
