THE recent armed conflict in the middle East has reminded us of our dependence on oil from this part of the world and on fossil fuels in general.
Apart from the question of sourcing our energy supply from areas of political instability, there is also now the fact that these supplies are not indefinite and, within the next 20 years or so, will begin to decline substantially.
Many believe that renewable sources of energy, based on harnessing the energy from the sun, wind and sea, are the way forward. Not least because these sources of supply are bountiful, but also because the impact from harnessing them is relatively low on the environment.
North Wiltshire Friends of the Earth held a public meeting in Chippenham to explain these sources of renewable energy.
We have now assembled a display at Calne Public Library. It will run until the end of June.
