GJ F SHORT (EA June 5) appears to have completely missed the point of my letter about green sacks, which you printed on May 22.
To spell it out what on earth is the point of encouraging residents to separate their garden waste from their other refuse when it all ends up on the same landfill site?
Surely a better idea would be for the council to keep the contents of the green sacks separate and have a composting area controlled by the Parks Department.
I suggested in a previous letter that a charge could be made by the council for collecting more than one black refuse sack each week from each household.
This would encourage recycling and be a more logical way of swelling its coffers than the sale of green sacks.
