Shoppers were greeted by a sea of blue and yellow at Asda WalMart last Saturday as 19 boys from Swindon Rugby Club's junior section offered to help pack their groceries.

It was a chance to boost the profile of the club within the town, and raise funds for the junior squads.

The club are expanding, with a new team at under 13 level starting in September, and the new players had the chance to bond while making money at the Swindon superstore.

They were joined by members of the existing under 14 team, and together the two squads raised £309 for club funds.

The money will help to buy equipment needed to get the new team started.

The club is currently looking for new players at all ages, but particularly for the two age groups who were doing their duty as Asda.

Any youngsters interested in playing rugby are invited to join pre-season training which begins on July 6 at Greenbridge Road, 10am start.
