A MODEL T Ford will be one of the main attractions for enthusiasts at an open weekend hosted by Ford main dealer Reed of Trowbridge this weekend.

Visitors to the Canal Road showroom will have the chance to take a ride in the Model T, the world's first mass produced car and the one that inspired Henry Ford's famous phrase "the customer can have it any colour he likes so long as it's black".

Tim Iredale, managing director of Reed, which is celebrating 100 years of the Ford Motor Company by holding the fun weekend, said: "Vintage cars always attract attention and people can get an idea of what motoring was like all those years ago."

Other Ford cars through the ages from a Model A, the first Ford to be sold in Europe, a Cortina, Anglia and Consul to the latest Fusion and StreetKa are also due to be on show.

A lucky dip, quiz and face painting will keep children entertained while parents have a chance to enter a draw to win a prize weekend break if they buy a car from Reed during the open weekend. There will also be free car washes.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm, and proceeds will be donated to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.
