Family and friends have been paying tribute to former international schoolboy boxer Jason Wilson, who has died, aged 32.
Mr Wilson, who lived alone in Calvert Drive, Walcot, Swindon, had boxed for England as a schoolboy until an injury sustained in the ring ended his career when he was 22.
At his funeral in Gorse Hill Baptist Church, Mr Wilson's courage, sporting prowess and love for his family were commemorated.
Addressing a packed church, the Rev John Harris said: "Jason was a very courageous soul, and in and out of the ring he always faced up to adversity and dealt with it bravely."
Mr Wilson, who went to Hreod Parkway school, had been a schoolboy champion boxer for the Penhill Boxing Club.
During his teenage years he won a string of honours, including the West Country's lightweight championship.
He died on May 30 in Swindon's Great Western Hospital. An inquest has been opened and adjourned, but the Coroner's office is still awaiting test results to establish the cause.
