SWINDON CANCER APPEAL: FUNDRAISERS are being urged to dust off their boots and help raise money for the Swindon Cancer Appeal.
Anyone who loves the countryside will enjoy the 20th Tony Long Wheelchair Marathon and Sponsored Walk later this month.
The 10-mile event starts at 9.30am on Sunday, June 29, on the Whelford Road, one mile north of Kempsford.
The start point will be marked with banners.
The route follows flat roads so wheelchair users can take part.
Participants will follow a circular route to Castle Eaton via Dunfield and back again. A shorter five mile route is also available.
The walk is organised by Stratton St Margaret resident Tony Long, a member of the Rotary Club of North Wiltshire. It is primarily to raise money for the Rotary group, and will later be given to good causes in the local area.
But Tony, 75, is also inviting people to take part in aid of Macmillan. He said: "I know many people who have been cared for by Macmillan nurses, and they have had nothing but praise for them.
"It's a lovely walk through the Gloucestershire countryside, taking in some wonderful scenery."
Anyone who wants to take part for Macmillan should call the charity's Swindon office on 601636.
