POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously assaulted in Chippenham last Wednesday.
The incident occurred at around midnight in London Road, Chippenham. The attacker is described as an Asian male, 5ft tall, of slim build, and about 20 years old.
He had short black hair, which appeared to be brushed and was clean-shaven with a clear complexion. The man was not wearing any noticeable jewellery and had a very prominent nose.
He was wearing a light or beige coloured buttoned shirt with short sleeves.
The woman did not sustain any injuries from the assault and tried to force her attacker off after he had previously put his arm around her.
DC Iain Lansdown, of Chippenham Police, said: "It's possible that passers by initially thought they were a courting couple."
