GREEN Baize Veterans celebrated victory while also tasting defeat in the final of the Swindon Supermarine six-a-side tournament.
Forty five teams took part in the event at Stratton Crosslink with one club ultimately stealing the show.
After a day of competitive action, the final saw Green Baize Vets 'A' edge out Green Baize Vets 2-1 in the final.
Organiser Judi Moore said: "We were absolutely delighted with the response to the tournament.
"The whole thing was put together in just 10 days and it went really well. I'd like to thank Tony Bedwell and everyone else who made it happen.
"It's the first time that we have organised such an event for a number of years and it just shows there is a big appetite out there for six-a-side football.
"A number of people had asked us why we hadn't organised something and we felt the time was right to do it.
"It's good to be able to put something back into the community and it makes the hardwork worthwhile when teams respond in such numbers.
"A good time was had by all, there were some competitive matches and it gave people involved in local football the chance to get together and talk about the season ahead."
The success of this tournament has convinced Judi Moore and fellow organiser Tony Bedwell to push on with a future event for both adults and juniors.
