Ref. 25547-22MORE than 150 workers at Asda Wal-Mart took a walk on the Wild West side to surprise Alan Russell.
Mr Russell, vice chairman at the New Phoenix Disability Resource Centre in Gorse Hill, is used to supporting people in Swindon with disabilities.
So staff at the supermarket in Haydon Wick decided to return the favour and buy him an £850 wheelchair. They raised the money by dressing up as cowboys and Indians.
Mr Russell, 43, from Haydon Wick, said: "I am shocked. I didn't realise there were so many nice people here. It's a wonderful surprise."
Besides fancy dress festivities, staff enjoyed barbecued food and took part in a raffle. Joyce Arthur, events coordinator at Asda Wal-Mart, said: "It has been a fantastic day. Even the managers joined in. We had three barbecues, including one at 1am for the night shift workers."
