MAY I thank Robert Taylour for his help in leading the way to banning the sale of fireworks to the general public. Organised displays have mine and I dare say, many other people's blessing.
Last year we had bangs and I mean loud bangs from the end of October well into late January. Apart from noise there were quite a few rocket sticks landing on top of roofs and conservatories.
One doesn't want to mar people's pleasure but most gardens are far too small for bonfires and fireworks. People with pets must have been out of their minds wondering when this event was going to end.
I would like to thank the lady from Marlborough Road area who phoned me in November 2002 agreeing with the letter I wrote to you then.
Unfortunately I forgot to ask her name and phone number but belated thanks anyway.
