Swindon's relegation worries deepened following a lacklustre batting display against high-flying Dumbleton in the Glos/Wilts Division One.

With eight batsmen at his disposal, skipper Will Nichols had no hesitation in electing to go in first.

And it started well as openers Nichols (29) and Darren Beasant reached 54-0 off the first 14 overs.

But Brett Sydney-Smith, John Baden, Beasant and Paul Baden fell quickly and although Andy Compton and Andy Staff offered powerful resistance, Stoddard was run out by a direct hit and Fox holed out at cover leaving Swindon with a meagre 148 to defend, also providing Dumbleton with an extra four overs to chase the target.

Despite solid bowling from Tom Fox and Pete Stinchcombe, Swindon struggled to make the breakthrough.

Three wickets, including two for Stoddart, gave them hope, but Dumbleton reached their target with seven overs left.

An abject batting performance saw the second string all out for only 113 in the return fixture, Andy Reed top scoring with 38.

Despite Wills' three wickets, Dumbleton eased to a six-wicket win.
