ALL parents want the best for their children and Nichola Watkins is no exception.
For eight years she has fought to get a good education for her son, Jamie, and now her battle appears to have been won.
Jamie has dyslexia and around a fifth of the population has a language-based learning disability.
Dyslexia is the most common cause of reading, writing and spelling difficulties, but it is never too late for sufferers to learn to read well. All they need is proper diagnosis, specialist tuition and masses of support from teachers, family and friends.
Many high achievers are dyslexic including the actress Susan Hampshire and human rights campaigner Erin Brokovich.
The principles of education in this country are that each child should be given the chance to reach their full potential.
Jamie deserves the best chances at this stage of his life and his mother should be applauded for not giving up the fight for Jamie's future.
