I HAVE just read your report (EA, page 2, July 7) of the attack on a man in the Parade. Your report says that the attack happened on Thursday and that not until Friday, when his condition deteriorated, did the police think about sealing off the area for forensic evidence, but that didn't actually take place until Saturday morning.

This begs two questions. Why did it take them so long to seal off the area and search it, surely there would be little to find after two days would there?

Do not Swindon Services clean this area with their busy little vehicles with brushes underneath? And would that area not have been cleaned on two consecutive nights, before the police searched it?

I have no reason to have a go at the police in Swindon they dealt with a stolen handbag incident of mine with speed, efficiency and great kindness. Which is why I'm so amazed about a two day delay in investigating a serious assault.
