CHIPPENHAM Town Council has enjoyed its best year so far, according to a new Best Value Performance Plan 2003/4.

The publication outlines all the town council's services, with a breakdown of targets and a measurement of how far the town council has achieved its goals.

Now local people are invited to check out the town council's deeds, and to respond with any ideas or comments about the job the town council is doing.

Town council leader Sandie Webb said: "We are working not only to gain Best Value for Chippenham, but also to improve the quality and well-being of our residents' lives."

The performance plan outlines the town council's mission statement and objectives, with plenty of information about town councillors, committees and meetings.

The document lists all the town council services such as John Coles Park, allotments, markets, CCTV and the Museum and Heritage Centre as well as targets set last year, and an analysis of how well the town council has met them.

The figures also include customer satisfaction using information gleaned by the town council in a consultation process among residents and stakeholders.

Town clerk Laurie Brown said copies of the performance plan were available at the town hall, and it can be viewed at Chippenham Library.

"We are very pleased with the results of the consultation," he said.

"We are providing more services and at a higher quality level."
