RETAILERS and business leaders have been told the Skelton Group has no plans to bulldoze the Langley Park industrial site in Chippenham.
Daniel Chapman, of the Skelton Group, which owns the site off Langley Road, spoke at a Town Centre Forum luncheon on Thursday.
He outlined the ways Skelton had improved the park, with a new name and image and a better awareness of the site to attract new tenants.
Mr Chapman said the Cocklebury Road development brief had generated much speculation about the future of the prime employment site, but said the company wanted to enhance and redevelop the area to improve the site and boost job numbers.
The development brief, which has been adopted as supplementary planning guidance by North Wiltshire District Council, does allow for some residential development on Langley Park.
The Skelton Group plans to relocate some of the current industrial buildings from the Foundry Lane area to create space for housing.
"We do not know exactly when that will be," he said. "We have no timetable and we are in the early stages of planning."
The development brief was introduced following extensive consultation to decide the future of land to the north and south of the railway line, including the 12-acre cattle market site, and includes allocations for housing and employment.
