AFTER an absence of three years, Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club have announced the return of its Pro-Am tournament.

The event, which will take place on Friday, August 8, had proved a popular one with both amateurs and professionals for more than 20 years.

Teams will consist of three amateurs and a professional who will be competing for individual cash prizes as well as contributing to the amateur team's score.

As well as professionals from the South West Regional PGA order of merit, a number of other professionals will receive invitations.

Already on board is Andy Beal who began his golfing career with the Salisbury club.

Various local and regional businesses are sponsoring the event, which, in the past, has featured European Tour players such as Gary Emerson, Stuart Little and former Ryder Club player Steven Richardson.

For more details of the event, contact the club's general manager Pat Clash on 01722 742645.

Sam Elkins and Matt Lawrence's hopes of reaching the Faldo Finals were dashed at a tough Royal Porthcawl course. Matt mis-sed out by just two points in the final order of merit, after gaining just eight points from a possible 15 to finish in second place. Sam picked up three points to secure fourth place overall.
