TISBURY race ace Alan Blencowe travels to one of his favourite circuits this weekend quietly confident he can boost his placings in the British Touring Car Championships.

The Croft circuit in North Yorkshire is one he likes and, encouraged by a podium double at Rockingham a fortnight ago, Alan is hoping his good run will continue.

He goes into this weekend's meeting boosted by the knowledge that his Rockingham appearance registered his best ever performance.

Alan told Journal Sport: "I admit I like Croft. I was third there last year with the Alpha."

Alan is in third place overall in the championships after rounds nine and ten at Rockingham and is just nine points from second spot.

Earlier this week Alan was busy instructing at Alton Park and from yesterday to tomorrow is on a tight schedule instructing at Thruxton.

His biggest fan, his mum Hilary, told Journal Sport: "Alan is pretty confident of one and hopefully two podium places at Croft. He loves the circuit and loves the car so everything is on track."

Alan plans to travel up to North Yorkshire later tomorrow giving him a little time to prepare for the Saturday morning practice runs.

Saturday afternoon is the all-important qualifying race before the real thing on Sunday.
