PROMOTION candidates Redmarley were run close by visitors Box before recording a three wicket win with an over to spare in Saturday's Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Division Two game.
David Kelly was promoted back to opener by stand in captain Richard Foley and rewarded him by batting through to the closing overs with eight different partners. The wicketkeeper finished with a score of 83, including 11 boundaries, scored mainly square on both sides of the wicket.
However, there was little other support, with Andrew Davis providing the next highest contribution with 11 in a final Box total of 136. Alistair Watkins picked up four wickets for 26 runs.
Watkins then went about trying to score the runs single handedly, making 33 in short time before being one of three victims caught by Kelly off the bowling of John Tooth.
The tall swing bowler finished with figures of four for 31 and together with Chris Taylor's two for 15 brought Box back into contention.
Foley applied the pressure by conceding only 25 runs from his 12 overs.
A spectacular catch at long off by Martin Jenks was also indicative of a much improved fielding performance, but the total proved not to be quite enough, with Ian Gerken guiding the home side to victory with a patient 31 not out.
