YET another superb performance from Kevin Iles took Goatacre to another victory in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Division One.
He followed up his innings of 110 with a spell of four for 30 as Goatacre romped home by 25 runs.
Goatacre batted first and found things difficult on a greenish pitch as the opening attack of Mayers and ex-Somerset paceman Andre Van Troost found extravagant movement .
Gee was bowled offering no shot and in-form Jif Wilkins was caught behind first ball to leave Goatacre on eight for two.
Rob Turner and brother Peter took the score to 28 before Peter was deceived by a change of pace from Mayers to be caught at mid on.
When Rob Turner fell lbw to Mayers Goatacre were 45 for four and in trouble. Kevin Iles joined Matt Wilkins and began cautiously but still kept the run rate at around four runs an over as Iles was severe on anything off line.
The re-introduction of Van Troost saw the rate begin to increase as Wilkins hit consecutive boundaries and Iles took four fours and a six off his second spell. The partnership had reached 62 when Wilkins was caught behind for 10.
Ed Wilkins joined Iles and gave excellent support in a partnership of 94. Iles went to his century with a pulled four before Ed Wilkins was caught for 29. With the score at 201 for six, with eight overs to go a big score looked possible, but with Iles caught next ball and Parrish falling two balls later, the momentum was lost and the remaining batsmen struggled to bat out the overs as Mayers, with five for 40, bowled very well to leave Goatacre 217 all out.
In reply Hatherley were given a steady start by Nally and Gear, taking the score to 31 before Heer came on and bowled Gear in his second over.
Mayers joined Nally and batted well although good bowling by Turner and Heer kept the rate down and pressure began to build. Nally drove Heer straight to Jif Wilkins and when Mayers was lbw to the same bowler and Field was caught by Parrish off Jif Wilkins for a duck, Hatherley were 92 for four and struggling.
Pritchard was caught and bowled by Iles for 47 and at 173 for nine Goatacre were almost home and dry.
With 45 needed from four overs, Van Troost hit an enormous six off Iles and with Moseling giving good support, anything looked possible. With 26 needed from two overs Van Troost smashed the ball at Adam Iles at long off, who did well to take the catch without travelling over the boundary and Goatacre had won for the fourth time in five league games.
Goatacre 2nds travelled to Gloucester and lost by five wickets.
