CYCLING sisters Georgina and Hannah Devenish have raised almost £3,250 for Age Concern by getting friends and relatives to sponsor them on a bike ride.

Georgina, 18, and Hannah, 21, of Suddene Park Farm, Burbage, spent Saturday cycling around the villages in the Marlborough and Pewsey area.

In three hours 15 minutes they covered 31 miles on a route that started at their home and took in Great Bedwyn, Ramsbury, Marlborough, Manton, Clatford and Pewsey.

Georgina hit on the idea of the ride to raise funds for Age Concern because she is a voluntary helper with the Marlborough group SHAC, which provides aid to carers and the housebound and was recently taken under the wing of Age Concern.

Age Concern fundraiser Roger Chalk thanked the sisters for their efforts. "It is a good example of the young taking an interest in the welfare of the elderly," he said.
