THE latter part of teacher Jenny Osborn's 30-year career at St Mary's Infants' School in Marlborough has been spent teaching the children of her original pupils.
In her class of 28 currently at the George Lane school she believes at least 12 are the children of boys and girls she taught originally.
At the end of the term she says goodbye for a final time to the children and to the job that she said she loves dearly.
There has already been a farewell assembly at which Mrs Osborn received a pair of portable folding chairs, a rucksack, pair of binoculars and two slabs of Kendal Mint Cake. Colleagues presented her with gold earrings.
One of the nicest surprises, said Mrs Osborn, was a valedictory letter from Wiltshire chief education officer Bob Wolfson. He said: "I know your teaching is as fresh and inspired today as it was all that time ago."
He was referring to her decision to return to teaching after moving to Marlborough with her husband Richard from Colchester. During her career she has taught more than 1,700 children.
