ONLY three girls entered in the carnival queen selection in Marlborough on Saturday.
But for one entrant it was a family affair as she followed in her grandmother's footsteps.
Sadie Farrell, 15, of St Margarets Mead, who was butterfly queen when she was six, won the queen's crown at the weekend.
Her grandmother, Josie Crome, who died three years ago, was the town's carnival queen in 1956.
Sadie is in year 11 at St John's School, and will take her GCSE examinations next year.
Her hobbies are keep fit and swimming.
She also works part-time in the Londis store in St Margarets Mead.
Her ambition is to become a midwife and she is planning to go to college.
She said: "I don't know why but I have always wanted to be a midwife."
The selection event was held during a disco at the Marlborough Town Football Club.
Carnival secretary Angie Dickens said: "Although the entry was disappointing, we have been able to select a lovely girl who we know will do us proud."
