As you walk along the picturesque Marlborough High Street, as a caring visitor you put some litter into a somewhat battered looking bin and perhaps wonder why they look so tatty.
The answer comes later in the evening when spirits get high, these unassuming bins become missiles. They are thrown through the air spilling their litter all across the road and crashing into whatever or whoever might be in their path.
Traffic has to manoeuvre around them until some passing patrol car or a caring pedestrian stands them back up for a short while.
It is only a matter of time before they do some serious damage to parked vehicles or shop windows.
Would the answer not be to make these a fixture which would save the poor street cleaners countless hours early in the mornings picking up unnecessary rubbish and finding and replacing the bins in their original positions.
