HAVING read the letter 'HGVS block our roads', I wonder if I may make a couple of points to Mr Combs and the rest of the anti-lorry brigade.
Over the past 20 years, the number of HGVS on Britain's roads has actually decreased by some seven per cent while the number of cars has risen by over 20 per cent.
As for these 'juggernauts' clogging up the towns and cities, how do these people think that foodstuffs and other consumer goods arrive at supermarkets and shops, beer to pubs, petrol to garage forecourts I could go on and on even the reels of newsprint that this newspaper is printed on arrived on a truck!
I hope Mr Combs' house never catches fire as I'm sure he wouldn't want a truck with blue flashing lights and ladders on the top clogging up his street.
