MARRIED quarters for Warminster-based troops are set for an upgrade after west Wiltshire MP Andrew Murrison raised the issue in parliament.
In response to a question from Dr Murrison, junior defence minister Ivor Caplin has laid out improvement plans for the current financial year.
The upgrades include 150 new showers and 101 replacement rear doors for soldiers' quarters and the electricity supply to officer's quarters in Elm Hill.
Roads on the married quarters estate will be repaired and upgraded and 111 officers' quarters will get new fascias, soffits and rainwater goods. A further 10 quarters will have their exteriors redecorated.
Dr Murrison said: "Having lived in sub-standard married quarters during my service career I know that personnel in Warminster will be pleased that their accommodation is to be upgraded."
