Ref. 27087/4ARCHAEOLOGISTS uncovering remains of a Roman villa in Bradford on Avon believe they could unearth a body in the coming weeks.
Dr Mark Corney, who is leading this summer's dig at St Laurence School, believes a corner of the mosaic found last year could have been a grave, and could contain a body.
He said: "It's certainly the right shape, and we will find out in the next few weeks whether it is and if it contains a body."
Around 30 keen archaeologists from Cardiff and Bristol Universities and volunteers from Bradford on Avon are working on the site, and were filmed this week for a BBC2 series, Time Flies.
In the past fortnight they have discovered bits of plasterwork, and are delighted with the excellent condition of their finds.
Visitors are invited to visit the excavations on Sundays, and after 3.45pm on weekdays.
The dig will conclude with a formal unveiling of the new mosaic on August 2.
