I, LIKE many people in north Wiltshire, am very concerned over the reported possible closure of the train service from Wales via Bath and Bradford on Avon to Waterloo.
My wife and I use this service in preference to driving to London and find the train well supported, safe, usually on time and catering for a wide range of public needs. There are those who commute regularly, visit family and friends, journey to London for a single purpose, use the train at the start of holidays and business journeys and change to other stations and airports in London, journey to London in a voluntary capacity for charity and trust meetings and find this the only available safe, long distance service.
All these reasons apply to us and we would ask you to include this service in the franchise to be decided in 2004.
THE REV ALUN GLYN-JONES,
Bradford on Avon.
MAY I add my name to hundreds of others who do not want the Wales-Waterloo train service to be axed.
I am 83 years of age and I'm sure there must be many in that age group who find the service so convenient to visit our families and friends in London and surrounding areas.
I personally find it so helpful being able to buy my ticket at Trowbridge station direct to the stations I need.
I only have to change platforms at Clapham Junction for my next station, and don't have to worry about looking for another ticket office. I am sure many more commuters agree with me.
I know that you and other MPs use the Wales-Waterloo service and find it so very convenient, so please Mr Murrison, will you all do what you can to keep this service continuing for us all.
MRS TAYLOR,
North Bradley,
Trowbridge.
I AM writing in response to the train service running from the West Country into Waterloo. I use it 10 to 12 times a year; also my daughter lives in London and is expecting twins in the autumn. I will definitely be using this train every week. Please keep it open.
H CLARKE,
Bradford on Avon.
