Ref. 13737-1A COUPLE from America visited their namesake Wilt-shire town this week.
James and Sarah Trowbridge, from Denver, Colorado, are on a three-week tour of the UK, and took the train from London to Wiltshire to spend the afternoon in the county town.
Mr Trowbridge said: "My grandfather came over during World War Two and I remember him telling me it was a beautiful part of Britain and always promised I would visit one day."
The couple had to ask directions from several people to the Tourist Information Centre, and were struck by how nice everyone was.
Mrs Trowbridge said: "People stopped and helped us, and some even walked with us for a bit. I cannot get over how friendly everyone is."
She said it had been a strange train journey, hearing their name called so often over the tannoy.
She said: "It is bizarre everywhere there are signs saying Trowbridge, and I'm like 'it's us, it's us'."
