Ref. 25634-54A RENEWED pub opens today and claims to serve the coolest pint in town.

The Merlin in Drove Road last known as the Malt and Hops in Drove Road and originally the Oxford opens at noon after a five-week major refurbishment. And punters are guaranteed the coldest pint in Swindon thanks to state-of-the-art iced beer fonts.

No matter how hot the temperature, ice constantly covers the neck of the taps ensuring a refreshing pint every time.

Husband and wife team John and Angie Adcock, licensees, expect it to be a big hit.

"We have worked hard to get everything right. The taps look fantastic and will be perfect on hot, summer days," said john.

The Greene King Pub Company spent £270,000 on refurbishing which caused a stir around two years ago when it was painted bright orange.

It is now a mellow cream colour and designers have tried to offer something for everyone by splitting the pub up into zones.

Leather sofas allow drinkers to unwind while pool tables and stools cater for the younger set.
