Ref. 25676-59Like two peas in a pod, the identical faces of the Harris twins smile out from their school photo.
Now almost 70 years later, people are still hard pushed to tell them apart.
But Vera and Kathleen, whose married surnames are Mabberley and Graham respectively, are hoping this picture will be seen by old school chums in time for their 75th birthday celebrations.
Vera, of Ashwell Close, in Old Walcot, said: "Kath and I thought it would be lovely to celebrate our birthday with as many old friends as possible.
"We still see a few of them but over the years we have lost touch. We hope that whoever reads this and recognises the picture will come to our party, and let others know about it too."
The twins, who attended Clifton Street School, in Swindon from 1932 to 1942, are planning the party on August 13, at Kath's home in Sandringham Road, Lawn.
Vera, a former Sainsbury's office clerk, said: "It sounds bad but recently friends have passed away so we wanted to make an effort now. Kath and I see each other all the time as we both sing in church choirs."
Patients at Swindon's former Princess Margaret Hospital often thought they were seeing double as the pair worked at the hospital's Buttery Caf for 32 years.
"People have got us muddled up for years," Vera said.
"It's quite funny really. We always said the only ones who didn't were our husbands, Philip and Gordon."
Kath, who has non-identical twin grandsons Richard and Alastair, 21, said she was excited about the party.
"We just don't know who will turn up until the phone calls start coming in," she said.
