After reading the article regarding Parking Plea Over 999 Fears, I would like to make the following comments.
There is a substantial amount of parking next to Chippenham train station and the adjacent Olympiad car park, but the reason the majority of regular commuters are not using this is that over the past four years prices have rising under the Labour government by 200 per cent.
In 1999, car parking per a quarter was approximately £40 which has now risen to £120 or £480 per year, this plus the ever rising train fares makes using the train service very costly, bearing in mind the Labour government wants to encourage public transport.
If the local government decrease the car parking costs this would alleviate the residential parking problems and access for emergency services and I am sure double the amount of people using the existing parking facilities.
