SCHOOLS IN DISREPAIR: THE ROOF of the toilets serving Drove Primary's reception caved in at the end of January and they are still closed.
Headteacher Nick Capstick says he does not expect them to be fixed until Christmas at the earliest.
Yet unbelievably the repairs are classified as D1, the most urgent possible category.
As Mr Capstick says, one wonders what happens to schools that are not at the top of the list. He said: "We still need exactly what we needed two months ago.
"We look like starting the new year with 52 new reception children and inadequate toilets. These are the youngest children in the school and they need toilets more than anyone else.
"It usually takes about three months for the repairs, but the earliest I can see it happening is the Christmas holidays."
Until the roof is repaired the children must use toilets elsewhere in the building.
Mr Capstick said: "I don't know who is to blame. We are led to believe by the Government that the money is available to the LEA but it is a mystery what has gone wrong."
