SCHOOLS IN DISREPAIR: EVEN Swindon Infant School is housed in a Victorian building dating back more than a hundred years.
Opened in 1880, it is one of the oldest schools in the town.
It could possibly merge with Even Swindon Junior School, which moved to a new building in 1997.
It needs repairs totalling £80,000, but headteacher Michael Keeling, who is also chairman of the Swindon Association of Secondary Heads, says his problems are nothing compared to some other schools.
He said: "One of the differences in Swindon is that the old buildings are essentially solid buildings.
"Most of the bad ones were built in the 1950s and 1960s,.
"The problems here are long term problems, and work on the roof and internally and planned this summer."
