Ref. 25636-31CHILDREN at Covingham Park Infants' School were inspired by great artists to create decorated tiles.
Kandinsky's Concentric Circles and Van Gogh's Sunflowers were two of the masters whose work was used to motivate the pupils.
A total of 180 children aged between four and seven decorated their own tile and each received an art apron from Swindon-based household products manufacturer, Reckitt Benckiser, who ran an art competition as part of the company's sponsorship of Swindon Summer Festival.
Head teacher Moyra Holmes said: "We saw that each child who submitted work to the Back to the Future competition would receive a free apron so we got everyone painting tiles.
"Some children used artists' work as inspiration, while other wanted to paint their house, or the sun or a rainbow. All the tiles were donated by parents who had tiles stored in their sheds that were left over.
"This is a great medium for art as it is free and children love to paint on ceramics," Ms Holmes said.
Last year the school won first prize in the painting competition.
