Melinda Messenger is backing a scheme to help children awaiting adoption.

The Swindon television presenter and celebrity mum of the year will join children from Wootton Bassett's Noremarsh Junior School for the launch of Don't Rule Yourself Out, at Lydiard Park.

Swindon Council and Wiltshire County Council's family placement teams will attend to give advice to potential adopters tomorrow.

There will also be the opportunity to speak to people who have already adopted and listen to their highs and lows.

Melinda will help release 138 balloons, symbolising the 138 children currently waiting for an adoptive family in the South West.

Jemima Milton, (Con, Wroughton and Chiseldon) lead member for Social Services, said: "This is a great idea. There are so many children that need our help and this is the best possible solution for a child that needs a permanent home."

The event will run from 10am until noon.
