I HAVE sympathy for Mrs Folland and hope she will recover for the wedding.
I also hope that she will get more consideration from the council than I did. I fell due to an uneven paving slab resulting in a smashed shoulder and had to have an artificial joint fitted. I still get pain and cannot use my arm properly.
The council's insurers reply to my letter of complaint was that the defect was only half an inch and is therefore permissible.
I can tell you that the pavement is just as hard and causes as much pain and injury if the fall is even half an inch or two inches.
Although the defective details were sent to be classed as a priority, nothing has been done to repair the area. The accident took place in June 2002 at Cavendish Square, Park South.
