THERE has been concern about the future of Barbury Castle for some while and there is a widely held view that Swindon Borough council are not aware of the importance of this historic site.
There have not been any environmental wardens there since this role was withdrawn from the Simpsons some while ago.
They now have been given notice to quit by the end of this month with nowhere else to go and what happens to the farm animals?
The letter giving notice from the Borough Solicitor has not been signed that must make this letter invalid.
There are proposed plans to cut down the trees to the left of the bungalow and turn this into a paddock for horses. Surely this is change of use and planning permission is needed.
It is essential that the people of Swindon insist that these proposals are taken to a higher authority as Swindon Borough Council does not seem aware that this is an important historic site that they hold in trust for the nation and its future must be made secure.
