TEAMS from Sandleheath, Salisbury and Riverside, all in different competitions, had reason to take a bow after confirming promotion to a higher level.
Sandleheath are up as champions of Division 4A in the Hants and IOW League after completing a clean sweep of victories with their fifth success when beating Riverside B on Saturday.
Mamone United as they might be nicknamed - five of the team are either members of or related to, the Mamone family - are hard to beat as Riverside were reminded despite good resistance before going down 7-2 in Saturday's heat.
Colin's son Chris and his partner Gary Vaughan led the way with a treble, but only after saving three match points against River-side's top pair, Steve Arch-er and Orestes Fuentes.
Undeterred, Archer and Fuentes, triumphed in a later rubber after holding another six points.
Two 5-4 defeats in earlier matches and Saturday's result put paid to Riverside B's slim hope of staying in the same division next summer.
Salisbury promotions have been confirmed for the Men's over 45 and Ladies' over 40 teams in the Veterans League.
The men won nine of their ten matches to finish top of Division Three, while the ladies will also be stepping up along with Riverside, who lost only to Salisbury and finished as runners up.
In terms of performance, few this season will better that by Salisbury's men in the County Division of the National Club League on Sunday. The 6-0 margin over Ramsbury at Harn-ham was impressive enough, but totally belied the closeness of the fight.
Playing on clay courts that became like a dust bowl in the extreme heat, Salisbury needed tie-breaks to win four of the singles sets, and then claimed another in the doubles, both of which went to three sets. To cap it all, Lee Mahony was handicapped in the later stages by a strain.
The success of Salis-bury's Under 11s in the National Club Junior League was crowned with an outstanding win over Bath at Harnham in the South West Region play-off.
The trio of Rory Smith, James Hammond and Harry Chaplin had already beaten Pewsey, Downton, Ramsbury and Swindon by 5-0. Sunday's 3-2 win earn-ed a Regional semi-final at home to West Hants.
Winchester brothers Ashtey, 11, and Schuwan Pauls, 13, excelled to win the Sarum Under 14s tournament, recovering from 5-1 down to win the final 7-5.
