MOUNTAIN boarding, described as the fastest growing sport in Britain, comes to the Pewsey Downs this week.
The Downs above Stanton St Bernard, between Devizes and Pewsey, will be the setting for the new sport, a cross between skateboarding and surf boarding.
Bill Daw, from All Cannings, who is organising the new site, said: "It has a very good safety record. Certainly there are a few bumps and scrapes but nothing more serious.
"It is a very exciting way of spending some time. I got the idea at the Smithfield Show where they were demonstrating it. The terrain on the Pewsey Downs is perfect for it."
People can take part from on Saturday until August 17. The site will be open every day from noon to 8pm. It costs £5 an hour for adults and £4 an hour for children with board rental, or £7.50 for a whole day if you have your own board. The site will be well signposted off the Horton Road.
