DRIVERS could be set for nine months of disruption when gas firm Transco carries out a series of roadworks.
The firm will be laying almost six miles of pipelines from August at four different sites in the town centre and Cirencester Way.
The largest project starts at the beginning of August and is scheduled to last 19 weeks.
More than a mile and a half of pipes will be laid between Transco's depot in Gipsy Lane and Drakes Way. This will involve traffic controls in Drakes Way and Cirencester Way, two of the town's busiest roads in rush hour.
In a second project, pipes will be laid under Groundwell Road, Regent Street, Princes Street and Victoria Road, all in the town centre. No date has been set for these works.
The third project also involves replacing pipes and affects 12 residential streets surrounding Queens Drive in Walcot.
The final scheme is to replace just under a mile of pipe in Cricklade Road and adjoining Malvern and Tiverton Roads.
