SPLASH, the activity summer scheme for young people, has got a new website.

Young people at Lavington School have been involved in helping to design the new website, www.splash-wiltshire.org.uk

It is designed for both young people and adults to use to find information on all Splash activities for the 2003 summer holidays.

Information about games, travel and discount cards, as well as fundraising is also on the website.

Splash guides are distributed to 10 to 16-year-olds detailing the activities on offer.

Tracey Watts, co-ordinator of Splash, said: "Splash covers the whole of Wiltshire and our aim is to provide opportunities for safe recreation and leisure time pursuits in the interests of welfare, crime prevention and social development."

Running alongside Splash is a programme called Splash Tap, targeted activities programme.

This enables vulnerable young people to take part in activities.

Kennet District Council has been awarded £2,958 by Splash Tap to run an arts and crafts workshop at the Oxenwood outdoor education centre from August 11-13.

Metal work, pole lathing, stone carving and shelter building are some of the activities on offer.

The workshop will be led by experienced professional artists and craftspeople.

Young people will be able to explore their creativity, learn new skills and experiment with materials.

They will be nominated on to the project by agencies such as the Young People's Support Service, Social Services and youth offending teams.
