Ref.10258A FUNDRAISING campaign by a mum for the hospital which saved her baby's life, got a boost last week from the big-hearted staff at the One Stop shop in Eastleigh Road, Devizes.
They raised more than £220 by dressing up for the day and asking customers to contribute to the Children First charity to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
The hospital saved Olivia, the baby daughter of Mark and Paula Matthews of Drews Park, Devizes. She developed a rare liver disease and required life-saving surgery at Birmingham Children's Hospital, where she still has to return for regular check-ups.
Mrs Matthews has been given raffle prizes from businesses in the area. Barbara Roberts, manager of the One Stop shop, agreed to help fundraising and the shop was humming last Friday with staff dressed up as characters from children's books and TV programmes.
The Cavalier pub in Eastleigh Road is also hosting a Name the Dog competition as well as selling raffle tickets.
Mrs Matthews is still looking for more shops to sell raffle tickets. If anyone else can help, they should contact Lewis Cowen at the Gazette, in Market Place, Devizes.
