FIFTEEN teams took part in an assault course challenge organised to raise funds for the Amber Foundation which has a centre in Savernake Forest.

Teams from organisations including Virgin Mobile, Center Parcs, the Royal Agricultural College and Kennet District Council competed on the Army assault course at Battlesbury Barracks in Warminster.

Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion Green Jackets showed the teams how to tackle each obstacle before doing a dummy run to spur everyone on.

The winning team called Kelly's Heroes, members of a West Wiltshire Motorcycle Club, proved their mettle by finishing just a few minutes outside the Army team's time.

Amber spokeswoman Sue Crawford-Condie said: "The aim of the day was to raise money for disadvantaged and unemployed young people striving to turn their lives around and make a valuable contribution to society."

Residents and staff from Amber also took part in the challenge and some of them felt inspired enough to discuss building their own assault course.

It is hoped the event raised about £3,000 for the Amber Foundation.
