I READ with interest your article Club spotlight featuring FC Chippenham's initiative regarding girls football as I'm keen to see the profile of the sport increased .

I would like to correct one aspect of FC Chippenham's press release, which stated that there were no solely girls football teams in Chippenham.

Chippenham Town Ladies Football Clubover have provided a club dedicated to girls and ladies football, under the umbrella of the bluebirds, running U12s, U14s and open age teams in the 2002/03 season.

Our plans for the coming season are being finalised, but will also include U16s and, depending on numbers, may include U10s.

We encourage the wider development of the sport, with some senior team members taking coaching qualifications and helping run the younger teams. To date CTLFC have enjoyed considerable success, but our latest award, the Wiltshire FA fair play award says most about what the club achieves. Contact manager Steve Gingell on (01249) 653776 or come and join us at the Chippenham College pitch in Cocklebury Road on Thursday evenings at 7pm.
