LETTERS SPECIAL: IT is with the deepest concern that I write regarding the possible closure of the above service which stops at my local station Bradford on Avon.

I often use the Waterloo link to visit an infirm relative in London and can't tell you how useful and convenient the service is to me.

It is reasonably priced which means I can travel more frequently. Furthermore, it is clearly in great demand and much used by other commuters as it is always full.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind the rail authority that it is always easy to axe something but much more difficult and expensive to re-instate it at a later date.

Mr Beeching comes to mind and the tragedy that his initiative was supposed to be for the country.

Just because we live in the countryside does not mean we have given up on life and purely sit watching the grass grow.

We too have busy and committed lifestyles.

I urge you to think very carefully about this matter and not to repeat mistakes of the past.
