I WOULD like to add my voice to those who are protesting against the possible removal of the only direct rail link from Bradford on Avon to London Waterloo, which I use regularly to visit my daughter who lives in Hertfordshire.
As I do not drive, the ability to catch a train to London direct from Bradford on Avon is invaluable to me. Without that service, I would have to travel either via Salisbury or Bath, both of which bring complications due to the lack of connecting trains and buses (particularly at weekends and bank holidays). Travelling via either of those towns would also add considerably to the cost and journey time.
I am very surprised the SRA has indicated that it wants to withdraw this service as every time I use it the train is full. I have also noticed that a number of people use the service from Bradford on Avon .

WE are retired and pensioners and we find the above service the most useful link for trips to London. It gives us an economical way to spend a day in town.
It also provides a most essential service when visiting our daughter and son-in-law in Paris. No hassle, easy connections and excellent service all the way.
While I appreciate our trips are only a small number each year, when we do travel the train always seems to be 80 per cent full.

I USE the Bradford on Avon-Waterloo train service frequently to visit London for a day trip, or for a few days, and also to travel on Eurostar.
It is a brilliant service and I, along with many others, will be extremely sorry if it is discontinued. Bradford on Avon already has a pollution problem caused by excessive motor traffic. Many of us can walk to the station rather than drive to Chippenham station to catch the much more expensive Inter City train, which arrives at the less convenient Paddington.

WE are extremely concerned to note that this service is under threat. We have used the service on several occasions, both visiting London for the day and to connect with Eurostar.
The service has always been well-supported whenever we have used it; both the cost and timing of the service makes it a more attractive proposition for a day out to London than the Inter-City service. With most seats booked in advance passengers travel in comfort and are not subject to 'standing' for long periods.
The cross-country nature of this route is important in enabling so many to travel directly to London without the inconvenience of catching connecting trains to and from mainline stations and incurring waiting time there.
