WHAT makes us attractive to the opposite sex? Sixth form students at St Augustine's Catholic College in Trowbridge have been trying to find out with their latest A-level psychology project, and have had some surprising results.
The students, pictured right, quizzed members of the public in the town, showing them a body image scale of nine male and female figures and asked them which was most attractive to the opposite sex. Most of the men said larger men would be attractive to women, while the women said slimmer women would be more attractive to men. In fact neither was true.
Assistant head Paul Hughes said: "There's some psychological evidence that what women think is attractive, isn't at all the case. It's interesting because the research questions many of girls' basic perceptions."
